Vishnuvardhan praises Radhika

Picture
Bubbly Radhika Pandit has been quite in upbeat mood now. Notwithstanding the critical appreciation to her performance in the recently released film Olave Jeevana Leekachara directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, she is also on cloud nine because the songs of her forthcoming film "Love Guru' directed by debutant Prashanth has come out very nicely.

Her amazing performance in this film has been appreciated by many film industry personalities who watched the film in a special show organised recently.

There were many film directors and artists who came on the premier show of the film who had personally congratulated her on her brilliant portrayal of a sensitive role. Finally, even director Nagathihalli is heaving a sigh of relief as Radhika Pandit stands out with shining colours in this film.

But the appreciation that has really enthused this lively actress came from none other than Dr. Vishnuvardhan who saw the film. When P.R.O. Venkatesh telephoned Vishnu sir and gave the call to Radhika, it was the Lion's appreciative words that had mesmerized the young actress.

"I could not believe Vishnu sir was talking to me. He appreciated many of my expressions in the film and was describing in detail about the sequences I had scored' says Radhika Pandit clearly in awe with the Super Star.

"I knew that the film is bound to be appreciated for its story content. But I was little apprehensive because I did not know whether I was able to deliver complete justice to the well defined character of Rukmini. I was really thrilled when the film industry and media personalities came to me and complimented me." Radhika plays an innocent plan jane girl in this film, but she is presented as a stunning diva in Prashanth directed Love Guru in which she is teamed up with Tarun. Radhika has sported new looks and a falling hair do. She is paired up with Prajwal in another commercial entertainer Super Man where in debutant director Prabhakar.

"I have become more glamorous in Love Guru where Prashanth has presented as a modern girl. I play the role of a girl working in a Corporate company. The attires are modern and stylish," says Radhika Pandit

Krishna travels 3 states....

Picture
The omnipresent lord Krishna is everywhere! But this Krishna of ‘Krishnan Love Story’ is moving to the lovely locations of south Indian states. With the beautiful Radhika Pandit and Ajay of ‘Taj Mahal’ in the lead for the first time, the film crew is currently shooting at the mist filled Madikeri and surroundings will be moving to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for some portion of shooting. In Karnataka the places like Sagar, Kumuta, Meera John Fort and Udupi have been selected for shooting says the enthusiastic producers Uday K Mehtha and Mohan G Naik.

After finding success from ‘Sixer’, ‘Moggina Manasu’ (Film Fare winner) director Shashank is making solid preparations with his friend's life story for this film. Shekar Chandru is the cameraman. Yogaraj Bhat, Jayanth Kaikini and Shashank have penned the songs. V Sridhar of ‘Mussanje Mathu’ fame scores the music.

‘I’m in no hurry to be number one’

Picture
HER second outing, Olave Jeevana Lekkachara (OJL), has just hit theatres and, more than the appreciation coming her way, it’s a congratulatory call from veteran actor Vishnuvardhan that’s got her gloating with pride. “Although OJL released a year after Moggina Manasu (MM), it’s been worth the wait,” says Radhika Pandit.
Not everyone knows that Radhika wasn’t the original choice for OJL. “The director, Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, had selected an NRI who was later dropped; I was chosen after he saw the rushes of Moggina Manasu. When he made the offer, I just grabbed it,” says Radhika.
After playing Chanchala, a teenager in MM, and essaying a mature role in OJL, Radhika has once again gone glam in the forthcoming Love Guru, in which she stars opposite Tarun. “I want to improve with every film, including being better groomed,” she says. No wonder then that she’s excited with her look in the film. “Designers, Bharat and Ravi, have given Tarun and me an entirely new look. It’s glam and trendy,” she gushes.
Her look for Love Guru is glitzy, but the movie hasn’t
been hyped much. “Because director Prashant Raj believed that it’s better to have a finished product in hand before seeking publicity. In fact, this week’s audio release was the first promo for the film,” says Radhika.
    She adds
that she enjoyed working for Love Guru. “It was a young team with unique ideas. After OJL, which was was heavy on content, doing
Love Guru
was a feelgood
experience,” she says. Radhika is also excited about her upcoming film Superman with Prajwal Devraj. “It’s a love story with a surprise element,” she tells us. While she admits to not being ambitious, Radhika adds that she’s here because she loves her work. “I’m in no hurry to become number one,” she sums up.

Lead actors of Superman, Radhika Pandit and Prajwal Devraj, will lend their voices to the film's soundtrack

Looks like Raghu Dixit's going to change the landscape of Kannada film music. After his foot-tapping numbers in Psycho, he's now going to make actors Prajwal Devraj and Radhika Pandit croon for their next film, Superman.
Confirming the news first to After Hrs, Prajwal says, "Yes, I am so excited that I will be singing for the film and that too for my favourite musician, Raghu Dixit. It will be the first time as I've never even stepped inside a recording studiobefore."
The actor quips, "I readily agreed to do the number. I know that people won't ask me to sing for my film every day," adding, "It's not a typical song, but will be more on the lines of rhythmic recitation. The song should be recorded over the weekend, and I'm looking forward to the experience."
Raghu is quite excited about the music too, and he's managed to get close buddy Vishal Dadlani (Pentagram and Vishal-Shekhar fame) to sing a number for the song. "We're working on the music, and it should be done by the end of this month," says the composer. We're eager to listen to it too

"In Moggina Manasu, the girl carries the entire movie on her shoulders, this was the challenge for me," she said.

Radhika says she does not want to keep away from acting in other languages. She opines that for an actress, language should not be a barrier what matters should be the quality and substance of the character. She also added that right now she is concentrating on Kannada movies.
Although she hails from a family of artists, Radhika became an actress by accident. "I was in my final year in college when I acted in Nanda Gokula. I used to represent Mount Carmel College in cultural activities and a friend in the team told me to try my hand at acting. I did, and became popular because of the serial."

Radhika's second movie will be Olave Jeevana Lekachara opposite Kitty directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar who appreciated her performance in Moggina Manasu.

‘I want roles with substance, not glam’

Moggina Manasu heroine Radhika Pandit is on a high and says she’s looking for quality work
SHARADHA SRINIDHI

Radhika Pandit, who’s won hearts as Chanchala in the recent Moggina Manasu and already has an online fan club, says it was all unexpected. “My portfolio had appeared in a magazine and the producers had seen it and asked me to audition for the part. I’d already featured in a TV serial called Nanda Gokula, so they knew I could act. I took it up because I thought it was a great start for a newcomer. In Moggina
Manasu, the girl carries the entire movie on her shoulders; this was the challenge for me,” says Radhika, who considers herself lucky for bagging the protagonist’s role. Though she’s from a family of artistes, Radhika became an actress by accident. “I was in my final year in college when I acted in Nanda Gokula,” she says. “I used to represent Mount Carmel College in cultural activities and a friend in the team told me to try my hand at acting. I did, and became popular because of the serial,” she says.
With Moggina Manasu doing well, will this budding Kannada actress take up other southern films? “As an artiste, language is not a barrier. What I’d look for are roles in which the heroine’s character has substance, rather than just glamour. Regardless of where the offer comes from, I’ll choose characters that are inspiring and challenging. But yes, I want to concentrate on Kannada movies,” she says.
And is it important for southern heroines to look a certain way? “I don’t think there’s a definition for the perfect heroine. Any actress who is
able to connect with the audience is accepted,” she says.
Dubbing in her own voice from the very first movie, she has already bagged her second film with Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, Olave Jeevana Lekachara, opposite Kitty. “My second movie did not come to me so easily. Nagathihalli sir had a special screening of Moggina Manasu. He loved my performance and selected me,” she says.
Actresses from other states are establishing themselves here. Why aren’t we seeing more local girls on screen? “We should be proud of the Kannada industry for encouraging talent irrespective of where the heroine comes from. This doesn’t mean that Kannadigas lack talent; it just has to be discovered.”
